Police respond to a shooting report early on Friday in Southwestern Topeka – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – One person was killed and the other two were injured early in Friday when shooting in the southwestern Topeka, authorities said.

He marked the first murder in the city since 2025 after 22 murder in 2024 in Topeca.

The crews were sent around 7:30 in the morning on Friday to 2700 block of SW Burnett Road, where the incident happened. The location was about two blocks north of the SW 29th street, between the Swarle Boulevard to the east and the Swirlawn Road to the west.

Police at the scene told 13 news that “multiple” people were injured in the incident.

One man was declared dead in place.

The other two people were transported to the hospital by an ambulance to the American medical reaction with life -threatening injuries, police said.

A yellow crime strip was placed around the crime scene. The crime scene included a one -storey home and vehicles in front of the residence.

Two units of animal control in Topeka were also on stage and the dogs could be heard to bark in the backyard of the residence.
