Mr Salmond died of a heart attack on October 12 during a political visit to North Macedonia. His funeral took place on 29 October in Strichen, Aberdeenshire.
Mr Salmond was First Minister of Scotland from 2007-2014 under the Scottish National Party (SNP) government.
He resigned in 2018 after a number of sexual misconduct allegations came to light.
He was later acquitted of all 14 charges in 2020 – he was found not guilty on 12, while prosecutors dropped another count and one was found not to be proven.
Police Scotland have already said a separate misconduct report has been lodged against Mr Salmond.
A spokesman said: “We can confirm that we have received a report of recent sexual abuse.
“Information appreciated.”
Responding to media coverage of the allegations, Alba party general secretary Chris McElheny said the allegations were “slanderous” and called on the Scottish Government to let Mr Salmond “rest in peace”.
Mr McElheny said: “In life, the conspiracy and defamation of stitching up Alex Salmond by Nicola Sturgeon’s close allies, appointees, staff and advisers was unanimously rejected at Scotland’s highest criminal court by a majority female jury who listened carefully the evidence.
“Three hundred people have been interviewed as part of this investigation looking for allegations and I was at the SNP National Executive Committee meeting in January 2019 when concerns were raised that the SNP, led by Nicola Sturgeon and run by her husband Peter Murrell , was actively attracting complaints from SNP officials and MPs at Westminster as far back as 2018.
“Nicola Sturgeon’s government was humiliated after it was found to have acted illegally against Alex Salmond and someone in her own government leaked an illegal document – subsequently downplayed by the Scottish High Court – designed to damage Alex Salmond’s character.
“The only thing standing between Nicola and being exposed in this conspiracy is an anonymity order preventing the public from knowing how close she was all along to architecting the biggest scandal in modern Scottish history. If Nicola has any heart left, she will call on her allies to stop these attacks and smears against Alex and let him rest in peace.
The SNP and Scottish Government have been approached for comment.
