KENDALL, Florida – A man was taken into custody Sunday after a woman was found with at least one gunshot wound inside a Kendall home, authorities said.
According to Miami-Dade Police, officers responded to a “suspicious incident” just after 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 6200 block of Southwest 109th Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found an open door to the residence and a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound, authorities said.
Police said Miami-Dade EMS also responded and transported the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in stable condition.
According to Miami-Dade Police, the Hialeah Police Department received a 911 call a short time later from a man who told them he was involved in a shooting in Kendall.
Hialeah police arrested the man and it was discovered that he was involved in the Sunday morning shooting, authorities said.
Miami-Dade Police confirmed that the suspect has since been turned over to them.
His identity, as well as the identity of the victim, have been released.
“MDPD Special Victims Unit, Domestic Violence Detectives have taken over the investigation,” an MDPD spokesperson told Local 10 News in an email. “At this time, we do not have their identities, family connections, or additional information.”
