BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating after the body of a missing man was found Wednesday.
According to police, the body of 55-year-old Marcus Spears was found around 3:45 p.m. by homicide detectives in the 3000 block of East Mason Drive. EBR Schools confirmed Thursday that Spears is a Learning Support Specialist and Compliance Facilitator.
At approximately 7:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, officers responded to the 10008 block of Avenue L in reference to a public assistance call regarding a vehicle belonging to a missing person, according to police.
During the investigation, police learned the vehicle belonged to Spears, who was reported missing Wednesday by the Addis Police Department, according to BRPD.
No motives or suspects have been established in the case.

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the passing of our colleague Marcus Spears. I learned that Marcus was not only a valued member of our team, but also a friend to many. He has contributed greatly to our organization through his work with our ESS population. His positive spirit and dedication to the students will be greatly missed.
At this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Marcus Spears. We realize the profound impact of this loss on our entire community.
We will have I CARE specialists at the school sites where Marcus served to provide grief counseling. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to share your thoughts or memories of Marcus Spears. Let’s come together to support each other as we go through this challenging time.
