Plus/Minus: Virginia Tech exceeds Virginia – Sports Illustrated

Plus/Minus: Virginia Tech exceeds Virginia – Sports Illustrated

Virginia was riding a winning series of a game (Woo-Hoo!) Writing in the game of Commonwealth Clash with Virginia Tech. This strip is over. Teams with 3-8 records in a conference game (as Virginia is now) rarely compile winning stripes. This is the life of cavaliers these days.

Minus

In November, I saw that both teams were playing live in Baltimore in the Hall of Fame series, Virginia defeated Vilanova in her largest game of the season while Virginia Tech made a Penn State mediocre team looking like a worldwide bully. Mike Young has his team better and plays a solid ball; That’s what good coaches do. For Ron Sanchez of Virginia, it still seems that the team is just coming out of the start gate.

Ron Sanchez removed his rotations from the impact only three minutes when Blake Buchanan lifted his second foul and had to be removed. The cavaliers were already short, as Elijah Saunders missed her second straight game. (More bad news, he will also not be ready for Pete on Monday.) This left freshman Anthony Robinson and Tj Power as the only other big ones that Sanchez could play with Jacob Kofi. Power took some offensive struggles in his four -minute stay, but he continued his series from 0 in January, with a bad triven. Robinson flashed some potential, but it is a very project. He scored six points in 15 minutes and had the best +/- at 8, but he did four fouls and did not control the hedge.

This left room for Buchanan to re-enter the game with the remaining 10:40, and the technology opened the lead of 20-15. I have often complained about coaches who strictly “foul” their own players in the first half, so I applauded Sanchez, who has the flexibility to return the BB to the floor. Unfortunately, Buchanan raised his third foul within a minute. It was a foul that he knew that he couldn’t sit two early fouls so far.

Andrew Rode has the type of season that fans of college sport should love. Rose receives a lot of hatred for the season he had last year, and he is not a point guard for him. It is not last year and it is not his guilt that Jalen Warley left and Christian Bliss got out. Rohde has the best season for everyone in the team, and the game last night was just another example of the professionalism similar to the workman he wears on the table. Rode was in pain against Notre Dame, sitting against Miami and was dressed in a leg sleeve that night. Although unpleasant every time he got off the court, he still scored 12 points (2/5 from deep) and handed out seven assists against zero rpm. In the last 10 games, Rode has discarded 48 assists while recording only 8 rpm.

Let it sink for a moment. This is a ratio of 6 – to – 1 for turnover. It’s not just good. It’s like God -like. By comparison, Tai Jerome, in his championship, won the third season when he led an ACC in assists, had a ratio of 3.3 Turnover assist.

In the last game of the game after two missed free throwing at Virginia Tech and without time out, the birth brought the ball up and got a pretty decent look from the main line of the Zumer. It could have been the shot of legends. (I wrote about the winner of Rees Bickman against Syracuse here.) He was supposed to be the shot of legends. But not in this train of one season.

At 6:23, staying in the second half, Virginia was 56-69 and still in the midst of her 21st 3.5+ minutes, inserting the land for the season. Virginia had received several stops by moving to a defense zone because whoever practiced against an area facing Virginia. But as the cavaliers returned to the line of the package, the Tech 6 ‘8 ”Tobi Lawal received three inconsistencies at 6 feet nothing Dai Dai Ames in the paint. It didn’t go well. Rode was lit – 9 points in six minutes – and Tyno Murray scored a quick break. [Side note: Virginia broke very well on the night, scoring, what, a decade-high 12 points on the break.  And the team looked good doing it, too!] The team went 6/6 from the line down and Virginia was 74-75.

Minus

It was an exciting finale and Virginia did well to make a game from him. But the game was close because Tech drawn from the Virginia-Last-VS-NC State 1/8 line. Jaden Young (79%a year) went 1/3, Ben Hammond (77%) went 0/1, and Mylyjael Poteat (73%) threw both his free throws.

Minus

Tech 11/21 from Deep, while Virginia was 8/23 beyond the arc. It was a ball game. Both teams struggled to stagnation on the boards, with Tech only 31-30 advantages. It was a game, a free game-Virginia won this 7-4, but Tech won the game by converting 52% of three. Whenever Virginia crashed closer, Tech struck three. Virginia has to win the three -point battle to win matches.

Minus

Ref. Virginia had no benefits. The second Buchanan foul was a call for a phantom. During Time, Ron Sanchez complained to the reflexes and was sent for his problems. We don’t know what he said, but he seemed relatively calm to repetition. It was a discretionary call to the reflectors to be sure, but that did not help the cause. (Jaden jokes preserves both free throws.) There are six seconds left in the game, Virginia down with three, everyone knows that the ball goes to Isaac McKneli and he was fouled when he experiences at three points. Only the reflees ruled that a foul was before McCnelli entered their firing movement. Isaac had to shoot a pair of free throws when he could just shoot three. Games are won or lost on margins, and Virginia, well, are that they are a marginal team. This is all that is necessary to get the loss.

Next: This is a quick twist to Pitt on Monday, February 3rd. The game time is 19:00 and the game is on ESPN.
