Plans to make changes to the County Durham Business Park car park have been lodged with the council.
The trustees of Paloma I (Industrial III) Unit Trust have applied for a Lawful Development Certificate (LDC) at Drum Industrial Estate.
The estate, located in Chester-le-Street, has a low flood risk and includes a mixture of industrial units and residential areas.
The proposed works cover various improvements and adaptations.
These include revetment, structural changes, installation of access doors, road reconfiguration and adjustments to existing parking facilities.
In addition, the plans include the creation of electric vehicle charging points, the construction of a new fence and the improvement of internal access.
The application is based on specific parts of the Town Planning (General Permitted Development) Regulations 2015.

They allow certain developments to take place without express planning permission.
Applicable sections cover minor operations, building extensions and maintenance of unadopted streets and private roads.
The LDC’s supporting statement, drawn up in October 2024, claimed all the proposed works complied with the General Permitted Development Order, making them lawful.
The document requires the issuance of an LDC.
The application form submitted by the same trustees in June 2024 outlined the proposed operations.
These include building modifications, creating new access points and installing hard posts and enclosures.
The site is intended for B2 general industrial use.
The application does not include any pre-application advice and the declaration confirming the ownership and accuracy of the information is signed by the agent, DPP.
