BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) – Pink pumpkin patch pop-ups at three Baton Rouge Common locations are back for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month Protect Your Pumpkins campaign.
The campaign promotes annual mammograms for women age 40 and older, according to BRG.
Pink pumpkins can be found on the Bluebonnet, Mid City and Ascension campuses. Anyone can stop by and pick up one of the pink pumpkins for free. Additional pumpkins can be purchased for $10.
The pumpkins used in this campaign are known as “Porcelain Doll” pumpkins. “Only about 50 farms across the country grow these pink pumpkins, which are part of a national campaign launched in 2012 to encourage people to show unity in the fight to find a cure,” BRG said.
If you stop by Baton Rouge General’s Bluebonnet location, you’ll find more than just pink pumpkins. This location will have a 15-foot inflatable pink pumpkin, pink balloons, caricatures, a vintage truck, and food and drink. People can try pink lemonade, Ravasio’s Italian ice, and Posh Pop will be selling pink-themed gourmet popcorn.

Mammograms are available at each of the BRG campuses and there is an imaging location on O’Neal Lane. To schedule an appointment, go to this website or call 225-769-1847. The hospital said Saturday mammograms are available at the Ascension campus.
