PIMA Community College Women’s Basketball Team won its eighth consecutive Saturday victory after defeating Glendale by 59-40 in West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
Next Wednesday is the rematch with number 5 meat, a longtime rival of the Aztecs, at 5:30 pm in West Campus Gym. Meat beat Pima by 74-57 in Meat on December 11th.
The Aztecs (17-3, 9-1 in Accac) beat Glendale (6-11, 4-5) on Saturday after a series of 14-5 in the third quarter and 12-5 in the fourth quarter.
They scored the last two points of the first quarter and carried the impulse to the second quarter, turning it into a series of 11-0 to take their first two-digit lead at 24-13.
Despite the series, the Aztecs scored only nine points in the second quarter and took the lead from 24-16 at the half. The Gauchos remained unsuccessful in the first eight minutes of the second quarter and scored only three points.
Freshman Kylie Saurs-Miller (former Arizona) was difficult to restrain in the second half, as it ended with its ninth Dable Down for the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds. It was 10 for 16 of the field and there were three blocks and two assists.
Sophomore Amelie Buffill-Guttheres (Sabino) scored eight of its 12 points in the second half, taking five fights and making two assists.
Freshman Lucy Land It ended with nine points from the bench, shooting 4 for 8 from the field and scoring the only threesome of Pima in the match. The Aztecs were 1 for 10 beyond the arc for the match.
Sophomore Rori Hofmeyer It contributed with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Freshman Kennedy Niman He recorded seven points to the end with four rebounds and four assists.
