Arizona cardinals have a beginner star on their hands in the rear corner room in the young CB Garrett Williams, and those around NFL are beginning to notice.
Each year, Pro Football Focus compiles a long list of top 101 players in NFL, according to their presentation in the previous season. So far, the Cardinals, back James Connor, has already been named #81 for its excellent year on the spot as the driving force of the Cardinals crime.
Williams is the next cardinal on the list that comes as the 73rd best player in the league.
PFF’s explanation for their Williams ranking goes as follows:
“Williams appeared as one of the best discounts on the NFL slot this season. His total rating 82.0 tied it with Trent McDoufi for third place among all. Lack seven equipment in the first seven cardinals, he missed only two in the last 10 matches. “
Williams certainly rated extremely well according to his own PFF evaluation system, but he was an incredibly valuable member of the young in Arizona, developing secondary.
Although he began his term in the desert, recovering from a torn ACL, injured in college, Williams immediately took on a role as one of the most excellent protective backs in the team and remains a lot of ceiling.
In 2024, he played 16 games and allowed only 56.5% percent of completing opposing discounts. He surrendered only to 329 yards through the air and knocked nine passes until he took two.
It only authorized 73.9 assessment of passers -by when it was directed and received 83.7 PFF coverage. This assessment was good enough to rank it third among all NFL angles behind only McDoufi and Patrick Surin II on Denver, an impressive feat for 23 years in his first full season of actions.
Williams was a huge advantage of the Cardinals in defense in 2024 and seemed to return again next year. Although he plays mainly in the slot, Williams has some flexibility and is an extremely athletic, intelligent young player with good ball skills.
