Boise police are seeking information after a pedestrian was found dead on Overland Road

Boise Police are investigating a tragic accident involving a pedestrian found dead in the roadway near W. Overland Rd. and S. Atlantic Sts. on the evening of November 1, 2024. Shortly before 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a report from a driver who believed they had run over what appeared to be a deceased person.

Details of the incident

Upon arrival, officers found an elderly man with serious, fatal injuries. Initial checks indicated that several drivers saw what they believed to be an object on the roadway and were able to swerve off the road. However, the evidence indicates that the victim was run over several times by vehicles that were unable to avoid him.

To secure the scene, Overland Rd. was stopped between st. Latah St. and st. Owyhee for several hours while the Boise Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Crash Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation. Numerous drivers and witnesses were questioned on the spot.

Support services and ongoing investigation

The Boise Police Department’s Victim Witness Coordinators and Treasure Valley Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) partners were called in to assist during the investigation. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time. The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once it is confirmed and next of kin are notified.

This is an active investigation and detectives are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact Ada County dispatch at 208-377-6790.
