The Kaubirs in Wyoming put the powerless loss of the border war on Saturday and the flu glitter, which caused it behind them on Wednesday night with a 77-64 victory over San Jose.
A star performance of a shooting by junior guard Malen Pedersen returned the crime to Wyoming in his leading conference form. Pedersen scored 20 points when performing 10 for 14 on the floor. It was Pedersen’s third game this season, which pushed her over 1000 career points.
Four other cowels have reached double numbers in the victory that improved UW to 6-3 in the Mountain West conference. Alison Fertig followed his exceptional, high career against Colorado State with 16 points and eight rebounds. Reserve guard McKinley Dickerson added 13 points from the bench without missing a shot. Dickerson was 4-for-4 of the pitch and 4-for-4 from the foul.
After shooting only 36% of the pitch as a team in his loss to CSU, Wyoming returned Wednesday with 55% production. He also received 26 points from his bench (Kati Ollilainen added 10 points) and finished plus-4 in the battle for turnover.
Wyoming (12-9, 6-3 MW) expires to 25-12 leads after the starting 10 minutes against the Spartans who entered the game after losing last place in Utah. UW continued to pour it in the second quarter. A mileage of 13-2 with four different players who entered into the point saw that the cowboys were extending their lead to 43-19 at the 5:05 brand. UW led with 50-28 leads in half.
San Jose State (9-13, 2-7) was better to open the second half. The Spartans managed to cut the Cowgirls lead to just 13 points at the end of a quarter after Rylei Waugh made a 3-indicator to download SJSU to 61-48.
It was as close as the Spartans would come. Wyoming again found his shot in the fourth quarter, with Pedersen and Fertig leading the way to push the lead back to 19 points, 69-50, with 7:08 remaining in the game.
Amiah Simmons delivered 26 points with 26 points to lead San Jose State. Simmons finished 10 out of 21 of the pitch to more than doubling its 11.1 points per game. Finau Tonga fell to 16 points from the bench for the Spartans, who fired 44.6% from the floor. SJSU made 7 out of 15 shots beyond the rainbow and finished plus-4 on the glass.
Next for Wyoming is a meeting with Boise State on Saturday at Arena-Auditorium. The Council is scheduled for 14:00
