Wilmington, NC (WWAY)-Riverwalk section near Port City port will be closed in phases starting from February 3, as crews are working to fix drainage problems, according to the city of Wilmington.
The affected part moves between the DRIVE Congress Center and Harnett Street, in front of the Pier 33 apartment. Repairs will be carried out on one block at a time, and on site and barricades on a pedestrian target site to use Nutt Street as a circumvention.
City authorities said the Riverwalk concrete section had a settlement, leading to incorrect drainage. To deal with the problem, the HARP builders of the contractor will inject a solution under the concrete river to raise it to the correct elevation for proper drainage. The work will start with the southern part of the Drive Congress Center to Brunswick Street before moving north.
The $ 1.1 million project is expected to be completed by early June.
