Chesapeake, Wjla (WJLA) – More than a dozen parents of children enrolled in Chesapiik public schools, lead the new governor of Virginia in court on one of his executive orders.

Thirteen Virginians filed a case on Tuesday against the Republican governor Glen Youngkin, requesting the Virginia Supreme Court to suspend his execution order number two, which overturns the requirement of masks in schools and enables their parents whether their child bears a person who is in school.

Peter Myers, Professor Emeritus of the University of Law at George Washington University, told WJLA on Monday on Monday that he thinks it will be “very likely” the debate on wearing masks in schools in Virginia will lead to a legal battle and end up in court. No more than 24 hours later a case was filed.

The lawsuit was also filed against the acting Commissioner for Health of Virginia Colin Green, who acts head of public instructions, Jillian Balov, the ChesapiIK School Council and the Chief of State Schools in Chesapike Jared Cotton, in addition to the governor.

Youngkin’s executive order, which raises the mask throughout the country, does not enter into force until January 24.

A school district, public schools at Culpeper County, announced on Tuesday that its mask policy would be updated to “optional” for students, employees and visitors, starting on January 18, 2022. Several other areas have used a different approach.

Public schools in Arlington, public schools in Alexandria City and Fairfax County State Schools were among those that current masking policies remain in force.
