Parents’ council at elementary school urges vigilance amid fears of suspicious behavior – Irvine Times

Woodlands officials shared a message via social media amid concerns about a man’s behavior towards children around the school.

Earlier this week, we reported that on Monday, October 21, concerns were raised about a man in the area of Herbertson Crescent and Donaldson Drive in the city.

A post made by a local mother on social media claimed that her child and two friends were walking home from school when they were approached by an unknown man.

They said this man “asked them to go to his house to see his puppies.” The children, who were left “terrified” by the incident, refused to do so.

Police Scotland say investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The school’s parent council said it was now looking to hold further discussions with staff and urged parents to “keep their wits about them”.

Their statement read: “We all know this is such a scary time. I have spoken to the police to try and arrange a meeting for me with them so we can discuss further what they will do to protect our children.

“All I ask is if you can bear with us calling me and setting up a time and date. Which may take a little time to organize.

“Honestly, we feel your fear. Please don’t think we don’t feel it. However, we at the parent council have no further information except that the police are present around the school.

“All I can say is be aware of your surroundings, don’t walk alone and if and when possible have an adult with them. If you are working and cannot pick up and drop off, please speak to a friend and see if they can help.

“We just have to support each other in this and stand as a community against this guy.”
