Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Madeline Harris and Samuel Joslin boarded the Paddington In Peru express for its maiden voyage to Newbury, the birthplace of Michael Bond, the screenwriter of the series.
The specially wrapped train will be seen traveling across the Great Western Railway (GWR) network which runs between south west England and Wales.
GWR’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Amanda Burns, said: “We are extremely proud of our long-standing association with the world’s most instantly recognizable and adorable bear and we hope our customers will enjoy the journey on our new Paddington in Peru Express.
“It’s been a really exciting opportunity to work with the team at Studio Canal, not only helping to promote the much-anticipated release of the film, but also taking the opportunity to showcase GWR and the world-class destinations we have on our network.”
“We may not travel to Peru, but you may just find that the Paddington In Peru Express travels to Penzance, Plymouth and Pershore.”
Network Rail Station Manager for London Paddington, Hadji Mustak, said: “Our station in London Paddington is known around the world for its association with the cheeky bear.
“We are delighted to have been able to work with our colleagues at GWR to name a train in honor of Paddington Bear and hope it brings smiles to people on the network who can get the chance to travel in style aboard Paddington in Peru Express.”
Paddington In Peru is based on the children’s books about a bear from Peru who wears a red hat and blue coat and has an affinity for marmalade sandwiches.
The third Paddington film follows the bear as he travels to Peru, returning to visit Aunt Lucy, who now lives at the Home for Retired Bears.
The film will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on November 8.
