Chesapeake, Washington – Thousands of Hampton Road residents are free after a powerful storm with intense winds passed through the region overnight.
According to the Dominion Energy interruption card, a total of 8 681 customers are left without electricity as crews work around the clock to restore the service.
“About 27,000 of our customers have lost energy in East Virginia and northeastern North Carolina since early Sunday morning … A peak of about 14,000 customers has lost energy at a time,” says Cherise Newsome with Dominion Energy. “Crews work throughout the region as quickly and safely as possible to return the lights to everyone.
At 1:30 pm, 12,000 customers are energy without energy. Officials say there may be more interruptions due to the continuation of the strong winds. Customers have been asked to connect (866) DOM-HELP to report interruptions in their area.
