Outside the duty of Louisiana Arrest State Soldier

State police officers in Louisiana announced that a state soldier who was out of duty at the time was arrested in Baton Rouge on charges of domestic violence.

According to the spokesman, Lieutenant Jared Sandifer from the Louisiana Public Police Section says a soldier working at the State Police Headquarters in Baton Rouge has been arrested outside a home in Baton Rug.

What kind of prosecution was the soldier arrested?

Sandifer says 40-year-old lieutenant James Jefferson III of Baton Rouge was arrested on the following charge:

LRS 14: 35.3.IHome Abuse Battery (W/ Children’s Threat)S The arrest followed an incident at a home around 11:30 on Wednesday, February 5th.

The lieutenant, who is currently appointed to the State Police Headquarters in Baton Rouge, has been a soldier since 2007.

What happens after this arrest?

Sandifer says that while Jefferson is waiting for the various aspects of passing through the justice system, he is currently on administrative leave.

As is the standard practice, all the ownership of law enforcement belonging to the State Police has been handed over to the agency, while Jefferson is waiting for the completion of not only the criminal process but also the administrative process.

Jefferson was booked at the parish prison in East Baton on the charge, listed above.
