Organizers go back to the proposed changes on the first Friday of Art Walk on Denver – CBS News

The city of Denver offers changes to the Santa Fe Drive Art August August August August’s first Friday event because of safety concerns, but organizers say the relocation is not an option. The event, which attracts over 10,000 people, has traditionally been funded by the area to improve business in Santa Fe (BID).

The organizers are back against the city’s proposal to move the event over the weekend, arguing that the first Friday is a long -standing tradition and relocation would be impractical. They emphasize the need for collaboration to avoid the public reaction and to support the Denver Art Scene. Discussions with the city authorities continue.

Andrea Barrel, the president and CEO of Newsed, says people will still appear on Friday to Santa Fe Drive, despite the changes. She adds that this can be dangerous.

“This is about wanting to move the event to the alley. There are several problems with that,” Barrel said.

Barrel says this can be complicated as many residents have the backyard near the alley.

“If you close the alleys, they will not have access to their homes, which creates another problem,” Barrel said. “So this is number one. Number two, our alleys are dirty. We have large landfills in the alleys. They are overflowing. They are not fun places to hang around. And also, third, the business is Santa Fe Drive. They are not in the alleys.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Denver (DOTI) told CBS News Colorado that they have reached the offer of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe area for a subsequent meeting. Doty says that the event has outlined its original scope (in August), similar to the evolution of Son, de Mayo. Doie is working with the area to deal with last year’s problems, including closing streets, security and safety. Doti suggested moving the event to the weekend or moved it to adjacent areas to better close closure.

The city is still reviewing the application for permission. It states that the decision has not yet been made, but adjustments may be requested before approval.

Barrel, however, says they were denied and they do not intend to make any changes.

“We are not, we do not move first Friday on Saturday or Sunday,” Barrel said. “We still have no permission. We hope to achieve it.”
