Organizations deliver food to homebound seniors to kick off holiday season – KGNS

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – The holiday season has officially begun for a special group of residents. As part of HE-B’s Feast of Sharing initiative, HEB and the LOVED Foundation delivered a Thanksgiving meal to homebound seniors this morning.

Organizers report that 1,700 dishes were prepared, including traditional dishes such as turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans. For those who volunteer in today’s movement, the goal is to bring people together in the spirit of the season.

“The organizations drove by this morning. They come and pick up their boxes of food and other goodies for the people who come today and deliver them literally to the doorsteps of people who can’t participate in the larger community celebration,” says Monica Bautista, executive director of Bethany House.

The 36th Annual Shared Holiday Dinner Celebration takes place this Friday, November 1st at Sames Auto Arena.

It is free and open to the public.
