By james art BATON ROUGE – One person was injured in a fire near Airline Highway Friday afternoon, according to officials.
The Baton Rouge Police Department and emergency responders initially reported receiving a call about a possible shooting victim around 3:00 pm near Shopper’s Value in the 5900 block of Airline Highway.
However, Baton Rouge Fire and Emergency Services say the person suffered lacerations as a result of the nearby fire on South Sunset Hill Avenue.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, a person involved in the fire jumped from a window and suffered lacerations, prompting the shooting calls because he was mistaken for a shooting victim.
EMS officials said one person was transported. There is no information on the condition of the victim.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
