After 60 years in business, the end of the road is near for one Lubbock business.
For many in Lubbock, the Christmas season includes a trip to Holland Gardens, located at 3739 50th Street. It was previously announced that Holland Gardens would close in early 2024, but it remained open throughout the year, leading some to wonder if the store would close at all.
In a press release issued this morning, we now know when Holland Gardens will officially close, and the good news for Christmas shoppers is this. You get one last Christmas with Holland Gardens.

According to the press release, because Holland Gardens has so much inventory and because of customers asking them to stay through Christmas this year, Holland Gardens has to be open until December 31 this year. Earlier in the year Holland Gardens managed to secure a 1 year lease extension.
The final Christmas Open Day will be this weekend on November 2nd and 3rd at Holland Gardens and then over the festive season shoppers will be able to buy everything, really everything, including displays and lighting. The press release also states that with few exceptions, everything in the store is 50-75% off. So get in early to shop for Christmas decorations this year.
Holland Gardens has been a Lubbock institution since 1965, and we wish Wayne and Ann Holland the best as they complete successful careers in Lubbock and look forward to retirement. I can personally say that my wife and I enjoyed going to Holland Gardens during the Christmas season, not only to pick up new Christmas items for the house (we love Christmas) but also to get into the Christmas spirit.
Holland Gardens will remain open through December 31 at 3739 50th Street in Lubbock.
The best Christmas and holiday items you can find at Buc-ee’s right now
I recently went into Buc-ee’s in Fort Worth and even though we are still days away from Halloween, they already had some Christmas and holiday decorations and gifts available for purchase. These are the best items I found that were available as of 10/21/24. Of course, availability will vary.
