The good news for Vernon Brace Barker’s golfer is his 5-Pod-Par 67 put him third in a field from 74 on the 18-Open PGA Tour Management Phoenix Open before a qualification event held on Monday, January 27, in The McCormick’s course Ranch/Pines in Scotsdale, Arizona.
Bad news?
Only the first two results advanced to the final qualifier.
Oli Osborne from Renault won the event at McCormick Ranch/Pines with 8-Pod 64, while Zack Stoker of Tempe, AZ mapped 6-on 66 to refuse Barker second place.
Barker had five birds and no spells in his indicative map.
The stunning 672 golfers paid $ 250 each to play in one of the eight preliminary qualifiers around the Grand Phoenix. 672 spots were filled in just two days and a waiting list had to be created.
The last Phoenix Open 2025 qualification round is February 3 in Scottsdale. Only top-three finishers there will get time for the Troes at the famous PGA event played at the TPC Scottsdale stadium on February 6-9. The field will be closed at 120 golfers.
