Omarion Hampton tops 3,000 career yards for UNC football career – Keeping It Heel

Omarion Hampton eclipsed the 3,000-yard career rushing mark in a dominant performance at Florida State on Saturday afternoon.

Hampton must be completely exhausted. He rushed 32 times for 172 yards and four touchdowns and also caught three passes for 93 yards, including a 49-yard pass that he took to the house for his fifth touchdown.

Florida State was the perfect opponent for Hampton to come so close to reaching that milestone. The Seminoles weren’t strong against the run early on, and Hampton made many of them make business decisions when he got to them in the secondary.

Hampton’s production has increased significantly since catching just 88 carries for 401 yards during his freshman season. He eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing for a season for the second year in a row and is a threat to surpass his outstanding sophomore year of 1,504 yards rushing.

Currently with 1,006 yards, Hampton has three more regular season games to surpass his total from a season ago. Based on the way he’s been running the football lately, don’t be shocked if Hampton surpasses the 1,500-yard rushing mark before the regular season is over.

Let’s hope for good health and opportunities for Hampton to etch his name into both the UNC football and NCAA record books.
