New York (AP) -The three-time NHL MVP Connor McDavid has been suspended three games to cross Vancouver’s Conor Garland check in the head.
Edmonton Oiles captain had a hearing with the league player safety department on Monday. The suspension was announced shortly after. It was the second stop of his career after receiving two matches for an illegal head check in 2019.
Late in the game of teams on Saturday night, McDavid and Garland are tangled in a few seconds. McDavid, after standing on his feet, hit Garland in the side of his head with the shaft on his stick and was thrown out with a penalty for a match for the intention of hurting.
McDavid will be able to play in matches on Tuesday against Washington, Thursday, a rematch with Canucks and Saturday when Oilers host Buffalo. He can return next Monday against Seattle.
The second stop of McDavid’s career will cost him $ 19,112 salary. His previous story also included a $ 5,000 fine for Eli in 2021.
McDavid, widely recognized as the best hockey player in the world, won the Conn Smythe trophy as a MVP playoff to help Oilers get to Game 7 at the Stanley Cup final before losing a goal in Florida. He was selected as Hart Trophy as MVP in a regular season in 2016-17, 2021 and 2022-23 and led the league in celebrating five of his first nine seasons in the League.
Vancouver Mayors defender was also suspended three cross -check games by Evan Bushard by Edmonton in the face during a scandal after a whistle, as a result of McDavid’s interaction with Garland.
