Officials say INOAC’s Fremont plant poised to close, laying off hundreds of workers – WTVG

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Hundreds of workers could be out of a job in Fremont as another factory closes.

INOAC Exterior Systems officials said they have been informed that next year will be their last. The news came suddenly.

“It was about three (hundred) to 400 people, I know a lot of people who have been there for 20-25 years,” said one employee.

Officials said the company told them they had been fighting the plant’s closure for some time and had lost more than $50 million.

“So we knew there was a delay, we were expecting maybe a layoff or maybe going down a shift or two, but not closing the doors,” the employee said.

Officials said that in August 2025, the plant will close for good.

The worker we spoke with said that for many of his colleagues, the closing leaves them in limbo.

“Even though many of the employees who are over 20-25 years old there are not old enough to get their social security and they still want to work and now they have to start over,” they said.

Officials added that the plant closings come on the heels of multiple plant managers in recent years.
