Laredo, Texas (KGNS) -Ledo reviews an initiative to correct the water bill that offers reduced fees for those facing difficulties or those leaving appliances, leading to higher than usual fees.
With the water account correction plan offered by Laredo, people will pay less for these one-off situations and avoid the quarrel, which is currently associated with account adjustments.
The temporary CEO of Larendo’s utilities, Walter, Elder Pishur, explains that the plan is that the residents can call the department, quickly receive information whether they are entitled to correction and receive the amount that would be their account.
“If you have a charge, which is three times, what a normal month is for you from the previous year, you are entitled to correction. We will calculate the correction and then the residents will have the choice of whether they want to take the correction this time or not, “Pishur said.
A member of the Community, Maria Vela, sees the program as a safety net. Noting: “I think this is a good opportunity for everyone, especially the elderly, that we are fixed income.”
The city already had a plan for correction of the water account; However, the process was extensive. The difference between the old plan and the new one would be that the utility department will still deal with the service fee.
“We will add a little fee for the water you used, but we will not charge you at full speed. So, the correction is significantly less than the high account, but it reimburses all our water costs, “Pishur added.
The Council of the Council for District 1 Gilbert Gonzalez says that the goal remains to facilitate people, especially for those who are subject to problems.
“This is a huge process because they have to hire a licensed plumber, then they carry the receipts and do not receive the whole loan. This will be a great way to forgive it for residents and customers, “he said.
Pishur added that this is just an intermediate step for more improvements. Mention: “We will soon install new meters we have talked about, they will be able to allow residents to enter and view their bills and use. With that, they can watch it themselves, so if there is some unusual use, they can catch it much faster. “
The program has been a great success in other cities according to Pishur. The program is currently intended to launch on March 1st.
