A police officer shot a driver who escaped from stopping traffic during a drug investigation in Wilmington, Delaware, officers said.
On Tuesday at about 1:00 pm drug members, organized crime and deputy department of the Wilmington Police Department were conducting drug investigation in the area of 10th And the streets of Kirkwood when identified a suspect, a 32-year-old man, employees said.
As the police were trying to pull the man, he escaped to his vehicle and at one point climbing on the sidewalk, police said. Then one of the officers pulled out his service weapon and opened fire, shooting suspects once.
The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is currently in a stable condition. The accusations against him are waiting for a further investigation, police said.
According to employees, the officer who shot the man was not injured.
The Criminal Investigation Department, the Professional Standards Service and the Ministry of Justice in Delaware are investigating the incident.
