LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – The month of October is called “Walk-tober” dedicated to pedestrian safety in Laredo and Webb County.
A recent study from 2018 to 2022 showed that 26 victims were killed and 58 were seriously injured in traffic accidents.
Laredo Police Chief Miguel Rodriguez said the numbers are down significantly this year compared to 2023.
“Last year we were 91; this year we’re at 42. That means we’re almost cutting it in half. So the focus is to make sure that we continue to use intelligence-driven data because we know exactly how it’s happening and continues to happen,” Rodriguez said.
The study cited in the Monday, Oct. 28 proclamation was done by the Vision Zero Webb Laredo Action Plan team.
