Northwest to face Gilbert for the Basketball title in Berkshire – The Lakeville Journal

Woodbury – The two leading goalscorers in the history of the Berkshire League will face the game of the championship in 2025.

Emily Avel and Gilbert School will play Madi Topa and the Northwestern Regional High School for the title of Bl. February 26th.

Avel and top are the only two players of girls who have ever scored more than 2000 Varsiti points in the Berkshire League. Ars, the leader of the league for both boys and girls, raised his career to a total of 2328 after the semi -rosers.

The semi -final games were played as a double -headed Nonnewaug high school Friday, February 21st.

Northwestern received the actions began with a win 54-34 over the Housatonic Valley Regional High School. HVRHS seemed to repeat the defensive domination, which helped them defeat the northwest in the season, but Highlanders could not be stopped in the semi -row.

Topa scored 19 points for the northwest, 15 of which came in the second half. HVRHS was led by Kylie Leonard, Daniela Brennan and Madi Johnson, who each scored seven points.

Gilbert plays Tomaston High School for the second part of the semifinals from behind. Gilbert built a comfortable lead, but Tomaston began to return at the end of the game. Avel scored nine points from the fourth quarter to reach the 53-43 victory and secured a place for Gilbert in the title.

Arell is 25 points for Yellowjackets with junior Addie Lily, who contributed by 19 points. Tomaston was led by freshman Ailin Lahi, who scored 15 points and gave his team a chance near the end.

Gilbert will look to refuse the northwest to go back to the game in the championship on Wednesday, February 26th, at Nonnewaug at 19:00

The last time these two teams met was on February 7, when Gilbert won in overtime, and All and Topa combined for 91 points in thriller.
