Prairie du Rocher, Ill. – A police officer in North Las Vegas, who lost his life in a shootout, was laid to rest on Monday morning in the East Metro Community, which had previously called home.
The southwestern community of Illinois gathered at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church to say goodbye to officer Jason P. Roskov at Prairie du Rocher.

A 17-year-old member of the North Las Vegas Police Department, Roskov lost his life on February 4 in the performance of the obligations.

Current and former members of the North Las Vegas Police Department were present on Monday.
“(Roskov) was a man who was passionate about doing what he loved, and he made the supreme victim for our country and for his community,” Ian Schwanz, retired SGT. North Las Vegas PD, said.
At the beginning of his career as a civil servant, Roskov was a volunteer firefighter with the Prairie du Rocher fire service. It is then recorded in the Air Force, located in South Korea, Iraq and Kuwait.
“I just want people to know the impact Jay made in the community. As this happened, we had people to go out and just tell us about the interactions they had with him, “said Thomas. “(S) how he actually helped them and served their community and for us who works with him.”
