North Las Vegas Employee and Suspect, killed in a shootout – Aidaho News

A police officer in northern Las Vegas and suspected were killed in a shootout on Tuesday afternoon after the suspect claimed to have directed a gun at another person.

Police officers in North Las Vegas reacted in the area of ​​Camino Al Norte and Lone Mountain Road around 2:13 pm.

After arrival, the officers tried to contact the suspects who ignored commands and escaped.

Later, an officer found the armed suspect and ordered him to show his hands.

The suspect ignored commands and approached the officer, which led to an exchange of shooting.

The officer was hit repeatedly, but managed to return the fire by hitting the suspect.

NLVPD employees provided medical assistance until the North Las Vegas fire service staff arrived.

The officer was transported to the UMC trauma center in a critical condition, where he later died despite medical efforts.

“With heavy hearts, we are grieving for the passage of one of the best in North Las Vegas,” said police chief Jacqueline Gravt. “Police officers choose this order of work because they want to protect and serve the community, knowing the risks and challenges that come with the badge. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, the officer’s friends and his brotherhood in blue.”

The suspect was also taken to the UMC traumatic center, where he was declared dead.

This incident marked the first firing related to the North Las Vegas Police Office in 2025.

Corrona’s office does not reveal the employees involved.
