BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Police in Birmingham are still working to solve a quadruple homicide case from July. Four people were killed outside the Trendsetters Lounge and 10 more people were injured in the mass shooting in July.
The shooting led to a lawsuit to close the business.
Neighbors say things have been quiet in the area since the salon closed, but they still want justice for those who lost their lives just over three months ago.
One woman says families are still grieving. She says there was a huge effort to find the shooter in the Five Points South mass shooting, but not a similar response to the mass shooting that happened just a few blocks from her home.
She cited increased prize money and additional media attention as two examples of additional interest and effort.
“The people who lost their lives in north Birmingham, their families are grieving just as much as the people who lost their lives in the south. So what is being done to give justice to these families,” asked a resident who requested anonymity.
Metro Crime Stoppers President Bob Copus says although several tips have come in since the shooting, they need people with information to share more.
“I think the other case kind of caught the attention of our advisors, but we reposted it and we’re looking for tips right now,” Kopus says.
As for the property itself, the business owners and the city reached a settlement in their legal battle. We are still working to get more details on what exactly this means for this property.
