Dawn Staley tried to smile when she entered her media session after the game, the footsteps of her dog, champion, followed.
“My emotional support for support,” Staley jokes.
South Carolina coach and her defense national champions certainly need support after the last of their impressive stripes, a 71-wins at Loud, supporting the Life colonial arena, ended with a loss of 87-58 to No. 7 Uconn On Sunday.
The highest-ranking UCLA ended the Gamecocks overall winning series with a 77-62 win last November. A week ago, South Carolina fell to No. 3 Texas, 66-62, to complete 57 wins in the regular season in the Southeast Conference.
“All our stripes were broken this year,” Staley said. “But it was a hell of a run.”

The last, which started after a loss of 54-46 from North Carolina on December 3, 2020, had filled the game with an 18,000-seat arena after the match, where people eagerly came to watch Gamecocks accumulate victories.

Food said she and her teammates did not predict a victory of blowing. “But we were ready for whatever they threw us,” she said.
Strong’s mother is Alison Fester, a native of South Carolina, who once held the record for evaluation of the State High School and was a teammate of Charlotte Sting of WNBA.
The “impressive” was how Staley described strong. “We wanted her.”
Gamecocks lagged behind with two-digit figures in the second quarter and were 45-23 at halftime.
Te’hina Paopao from South Carolina said the team made too many mistakes and made no strong efforts against the Huskies.
“We just have to learn and grow from this opportunity,” she said. “We have to do better work, making efforts and being mentally and physically difficult.”
Staley also cites the lack of efforts on her team in the defeat by calling “F” if her players are evaluated in college.
“They had a way with us,” Staley said. “There is no attempt to find a silver lining. We won and we were beating bad.”
Staley said it was important for Gamecocks to return to defense and insult habits, which made them become 22-1 before losing two of their last three games.
“I think we’re a little mentally and physically tired,” she said. “Only the glove of the season. But there is a time when you can regroup and return it.”
