No. 5 USC Men’s Volleyball Disposes Five – Marathon to # 2 UC Irvine – Official Athletic Site of the University of South California

Ervine, California – The Men’s Volleyball Team of USC No. 5 (9-1) fell to # 2 UC Irvine (9-0) in a solid battle decision (25-20, 26-28, 25-21, 18-25, 26-24) in Bren Events Center on Wednesday, February 12th. It took 62 links and 22 changes in the lead to solve the winner, but the loss clicked with nine matches on the Trojans and was the first defeat of the USC season.

  • O. O. Sterling foil There were maximums in the career of 16 strokes (4E, 36ATT) and 17.5 points at .333 strokes to go with seven cops, three blocks and three assists.
  • Junior O. Dylan Klein He led the Trojans in a score of 21.5 points collected at 18 beats, two service aces and three blocks. It was his 47th career game in double-digit killings. Klein also had 11 cops to register his double double of his second career.
  • So. S Caleb Blanchette A match of your career high with 61 assists and directed the USC at your 10th direct match, hitting plus-300 (.311). He also had nine cops, a service ace and a block.
  • O. MB Parker Tomkinson The 10 strokes (2E, 14att) to the .500 beats and there were three blocks and three digs.
  • Redshirt -Senior Opp Jack Decuchar They locked the season 16 murders (4E, 32ATT) at .375 strokes and there were three cops and a block.

  • For the anteater Nolan Flexsen, he led 27 career strokes to go with 12 cops and five blocks for 30.5 points. Hillir Heno lifted 24 strokes with nine cops and five blocks. Michai Gos and Andon Kiriaku had 10 strokes in number. Joe Carlus raised 73 assists and had 15 dumps for a double double with four blocks.

How did it happen

  • USC struck north from .300 for the 10th time in 10 games and reached two-digit blocks (10.0) for the sixth time. The Trojans registered the peaks of the season in Kills (75), Attacks (167), Digs (58) and assists (71). The match was tied 62 times and the lead changed his hands 22 times during the five sets.
  • Anti-aters never went into the initial set, but the Trojans got into 15-all-equality before UC Irvine transferred to a 25-20 victory. UCI put five blocks and forced USC to hit .087 in the frame. The Trojans were led by three killer performance from Foli, while the anteatras received three in number of Flele, Heno and Kiriaku at the strikes .333.
  • USC led two of the three earlier, but they were quickly caught at eight all. From there, the teams were tied to each point for 19 ties before the Trojans equalized the Foley Kills match of Foley in winning with 28-26. When the dust precipitates, the USC collected 20 strokes (4E) on 42 swings to hit. UCI collected four more blocks for each of the Trojans’ mistakes, while the USC had two blocks in the kit.
  • UC Irvine led a three-pointed lead in the third at 14-11, but the Trojans scored three in a row to hit the ninth of what would be 14 times. USC took its last lead to 16-15 and fought to a 19-year-old draw before the anteatras received a pair of murders from Heno and another from Flex to complete a 25-21 victory. USC struck .324 in the third with 14 strokes (2E) on 37 swings, while anteatters had 18 killings (2E) at 38 attempts for .421.
  • In the worst of the first four sets, the Trojans never gave up and rolled to a 25-18 victory at 14 strokes (4E, 32ATT) and .312 strokes, led by four folk and deuchar. Olson got off the bench to score three of his killings, while Klein had two on five swings. Both teams placed three blocks each, but the Trojans kept the premises until .156 to hit (11K, 63) in 32 attacks to send the match to the fifth set.
  • In the fifth set, which had more connections (23) than any other kit in the match, anteater triumphed, 26-24, in the longest fifth set in the history of the USC program. Previously, the Trojans played with a 21-19 decision in one fifth set in 2003. UCI reached the first place in the match of 14-13, but the Trojans saved the point and had eight chances to leave the match. The anti-trainees had their fourth point at 25-24 to complete the victory. In a heavyweight battle in the heavyweight, Decear had seven strokes and Klein scored five. On the other side of the net, Heno had eight and fire poured into seven. UCI struck .519 in the heel with 16 strokes (2E) on 27 swings. USC struck .364 with 17 strokes (5E, 33att) and stood up for 4.5 blocks, including the block to complete the match at Deuchar.

Match notes

  • The USC fell to 43-37 for all time against UC Irvine and cut a five-petiolet road for the second consecutive year.
  • Trojans start 9-0 of the season was the best since 1991 when USC started with 28-0 below Jim McLaphlin and finished 34-2 as a NCAA runner up to Long Beach State.
  • USC struck .300 for the 10th consecutive time this season.
