The Northwest (12-9, 3-7) lost to Rutgers 79-72 on Wednesday, only its second loss in 12 home games this season.

“I’m a little loss for words,” Northwestern coach Chris Collins said then. “I can live with a loss, but I just didn’t love our energy, our struggle and the intensity of defense in the first half.”

Wisconsin fired only 37.3 percent against Maryland, dropping 18 of his 27 attempts from behind the arc. John Tonve led with 23 points, but no one else contributed more than 10.

Badgers entered the game as # 1 team to shoot free throws in the country, but were only 15 out of 21 against Terrapins. Wisconsin also turned it 10 times.

“Against a really good team on the road, you obviously have to take care of the ball, which I thought we did better work in the second half,” said Wisconsin Greg Gard coach. “Not so well in the first half and then you should be able to take some plays and take pictures.”

Tonje is an average of 18.2 points, along with teammates 44 3 indicators, and John Blacuel contributes 16.0 points. The inner tandem of Nolan winter and Stephen Crole an average of 10.1 and 10.0 points, respectively 5.7 boards in number.

Badgers senior guard Max Clezmith continues to fight his shooting. Klesmith fired 43.7 percent last season, including 39.8 percent of the 3-point range. This season, these videos are up to 33.3 and 28.3 respectively.

Clessmith was only 1 of 8 of the terrain against Maryland, including 1 of 6 of the long distances.

Wisconsin an average of 81.8 points, while allowing 70.6. Dating last season, Badgers are 28-1 when they hold opponents up to 70 points or less.

Northwestern failed to refuse to defensively against Rutgers, which launched 57.1 percent, including 8 of 14 of the 3-point scope.

Jalen Leach led Wildcats with 23 points, and Nick Martinelli had a double-end with 16 points and 10 rebounds, playing all 40 minutes.

Martinelli has an average of 19.6 points from the team, Brooks Barnchizer adds 17.1 points and leaders from the team 8.8 rebounds, and the release is an average of 14.3 points.

Wildcats average 74.1 points, 16th in the conference of 18 teams and allows 69.4.

“We will not be a team that will score 85, 90, 95 points per game,” Collins said. “We will work hard to get into the 70s and have to keep teams in the 60s. When the teams are constantly 80, 80 plus, it will be really difficult for us. “

Wisconsin has won eight of the last 10 games in the series, including the two matches last season.

“In the next game,” Gard said. “We have to prepare for the northwest and they will be a handful. So, this is to make sure we continue to improve. “
