Under 45.5 points
Two weeks ago, this might have been the best game of the season. Now we have the Chiefs still winning despite Mahomes throwing more picks than touchdown passes and Baker Mayfield having fewer weapons than a Hare Krishna meeting.
It will be a tough task and I don’t think either side will move the ball particularly well. I also wouldn’t be surprised if this is the game where Andy Reid records some terrible games, so other teams have to account for them later in the season when things are higher.
He will intentionally throw a result out of a certain formation only to change it in the playoffs. He does it every year, and to do it against a team in a different conference that isn’t a threat to you despite being undefeated seems like the logical thing to do.
For that reason, I don’t think we’ll see a naturally lower-scoring game. Well, nobody can catch the ball for Tampa Bay.
DeAndre Hopkins over 42.5 receiving yards
One thing you can do is include the new person. Now he’s a week further into the book and starting to understand what it takes to play for the Chiefs.
They will put him in situations to test him, but also out of necessity. JuJu is another week in all likelihood, Xavier Worthy isn’t able to run a full route tree, and Travis Kelce is already putting in more work than the organization would like him to do early in the season.
Patrick Mahomes under 1.5 passing touchdowns
It’s safe to say he’s not playing well. He’s not. He’s the most talented player to ever play the sport and his bad season doesn’t negate any of that.
He didn’t have a reliable guy to throw the ball to. And the team has evolved to where it is now a good working unit. Before, pass rush was their running game. Now, long-term games are their passing game.
They have a top three defense and some of the best kicking in the country. Mahomes is no longer Superman, and that’s mainly because Kansas City doesn’t want him to be.
Bucky Irving over 33.5 rushing yards
Tampa Bay will have to find some home truths here. The first is that Baker is a good quarterback, but he can’t overcome the loss of Chris Godwin for the season and then the departure of Mike Evans.
To be fair, not many could top it. Mahomes clearly can’t handle the likes.
But they also need to understand what a special runner Irving can be and prioritize his careers over those slated for Rachaad White. The latter is not evasive, it is inefficient and has a lot of wasted moves.
That line would be too high if I thought Kansas City would run away with this game, but I think it stays within one score long enough for them to commit to hitting the rock.
