ASP Boniface Mutua, a police service officer who suffered life-changing injuries while on duty, has been given a new lease of life.

Mutua received a specially designed electric wheelchair designed to enable him to continue serving with increased mobility and independence.

Police officer Sammy Ondimu said TUKO.co.ke that DIG-APS Gilbert Masengeli facilitated the initiative in partnership with Medical Administrators Kenya Limited.

“This is a life-changing tool for him that allows him to remain an active and productive member of the police service,” he said.

Ondimu added that the special wheelchair means Mutua can continue to perform his duties despite his physical limitations.

Admitting that he had never seen such a wheelchair before, Ondimu expressed amazement at its capabilities.

Mutua’s wife stayed by his side

The police officer highlighted how such advances in assistive technology can transform the lives of people with disabilities.

He shared photos from the show, capturing the powerful embrace between Mutua and his devoted wife.

Ondimu highlighted the inspirational aspects of Mutua’s journey, noting his wife’s unwavering commitment.

“She stood by him despite the difficult circumstances brought on by his injuries,” he reiterated.
