New Jersey sees a two -week break from seismic activity after recent tremor – Shore News Network

Trenton, nj – New Jersey has passed two weeks without an earthquake, marking a brief pause in the frequent insignificant seismic activity of the state.

The last recorded earthquake in the country happened two weeks ago near Paramus, registering a magnitude of 2.4 to a depth of 7 kilometers. Previously, in the last few months, small tremors have been recorded in Kalifon, Gladstone and Bedminster, with the quantities varying from 1.5 to 1.9.

Califon has been the most active area in recent months, experiencing numerous earthquakes, including an event of 1.9 magnitude five months ago. The earthquakes of the state as a whole are insignificant, causing almost no damage, but serve as a reminder of the main seismic activity in the region.

While New Jersey is not known for large earthquakes, random tremor happens due to the lines of the fault in the region. The recent quiet period comes after a series of small earthquakes, especially in the north of the state.

Seismologists continue to monitor the activity in the area, although significant earthquakes have not been predicted.
