New Format announced as ACC’s baseball championship – our Central Central

Charlotte, NC (Theacc.com) – Earlier this spring with the ACC 2025 baseball championship in Durham, North Carolina, all 16 ACC teams will compete in a one -time utility championship. The championship will remain six days, as in previous years, will be held from Tuesday, May 20, until Sunday, May 25, 2025, from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

“Once again, there is a huge excitement about the ACC baseball and today’s message will bring an improved championship experience for our athletes, coaches and fans,” said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips Doctor. “On a national scale, ACC is again well presented in the pre -season polls and awards. Then, what we know will be a highly competitive regular season, we look forward to showing all the 16 baseball teams in Durham this May.”

Since 2006, the ACC baseball championship has been played in a pool or round Robin -style format. The tournament last expanded the size of its field in 2017, moving from 10 to 12 teams.

According to the new format, the four best seeds in the championship will be based on the performance in the regular season and will receive a double extraction in the quarter-finals, which is planned to be held on Thursday and Friday. Seeds from five to eight will win by bye in the second round on Wednesday. The 9-16 seeds will start playing with four games from the first round on Tuesday.

The format of the championship with a single -elying will include four matches a day on Tuesday (first round) and Wednesday (second round). Two quarter -finals will be held on Thursday and Friday until Saturday will host the two semi -final competitions. Sunday will host the championship game.

Tickets for the baseball championship in 2025 will be launched on Wednesday, February 12th.

The ACC baseball championship has returned to Durham, North Carolina, for the 14th time as a whole and ninth time since 2009. Clemson recently won the baseball championship in 2023 in Durham, beating Miami 11-5 in the championship game. Duke, who calls Durham Home, enters the 2025 season as the reigning champions in the league after winning the ACC 2024 championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The new championship format will continue to emphasize the power of ACC’s baseball, which sent eight NCAA tournament teams in 2024, including the NCAA Record, which binds four teams of the World Men College. Five ACC baseball programs competed in the Super Regional Round, with four teams winning host rights.

The changed format also provides optimal post -season experience for both teams and fans. The change was proposed by the 16 chief coaches of the League and received direct support from the athletes. The one-time elimination format provides a more exciting and easier to follow the true championship format that will improve the fan engagement.
