In his first spring training with Los Angeles Dodgers, South Korean toy Kim High-Seng worked on a change in swinging.
After a long day at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday Kim told South Korean media that he was trying to adjust the movements of his upper and lower body.
“The team destroyed things for me and I try to make these changes,” Kim said. “It feels a little uncomfortable because I’m still in a transitional period. I’ll have to get a lot of reps and make quick adjustments.”
Kim, who signed with Dodgers in early January, compared .304 in his eight years in the Korean baseball organization and hit. However, for many Power, however, with only 37 home tracks in 953 career matches. He broke out a career High 11 Households last year, but there was only one after the All-Star break.
Asked if he was changing his swing to start hitting more power in the specialties, Kim replied: “This is not the case. The team identifies some problems that need to be addressed. I try to develop a better swing, not just hit for more power. “
Dodgers hit coach Aaron Bates said Kim was a quick study as he worked on his “direction on the battle path”.
“We made some adjustments to make them so fast, it’s really impressive,” Bates said. “Sometimes he has to feel a little uncomfortable. But he was great all the time. He’s all and he was really impressive in that sense.”
Bates noted that Kim’s bat skills “really can’t be taught” and said, “He has the ingredients to be great, and then it’s just a kind of setting up.”
Bates said he didn’t have to worry about Kim’s lack of power.
“I think the steel delivers a lot of force. When it consistently does the right one and is not really worried about it … You can obviously see how physically it fits and how strong it is,” Bates said. “Power is one of those things in which you put a good swing on it and leave it to take care of yourself. The bat skills to the ball and the ability to make contact are, in my opinion, more important.”
Kim said he also studied important lessons outside the quotation cage and away from the field.
“Every player hits well, plays well and has a great thinking,” Kim said. “Just as I was around them, I could understand why the main league players are as great and successful. So I will try to learn as much as I can.”
Dodgers will play his first spring training game against the Chicago cubes on Thursday. Kim said he had not heard from his coaching staff when he could first see action, but would remain prepared independently.
“I just want to play well when I have a chance. That’s all,” Kim said. “I will try to use my SWING changes for good use in game situations.” (Yonhap)
