Reno, NV – The powerful winter storm continues to affect the northern and central Nevada, carrying heavy snowfall and high winds, which makes trips dangerous in many regions. The National Meteorological Service has issued warnings for winter storms and consultations for winter weather conditions in several counties, with snowfall expected to continue until Monday night and early Tuesday in some areas.
According to the National Meteorological Service in Renault, heavy snow is expected to be over 5000 feet in the West Nevada pool and the range, including Lake Pyramid. Additional 3 to 7 inches are possible, with winds groaning up to 35 mph. Zones below 5000 feet can see up to 3 inches of snow. Traveling of the I-80 to East Perushing County and the US-50 in East Churchill County is expected to be difficult until the conditions improve later this morning.
To the east, the National Meteorological Service in Elko has issued a warning about a winter storm for the cities of North and South Lander and Eureka, with up to 10 inches of snow and local quantities from 15 inches near top meetings. The warning remains in force until 10:00 on Monday. Ruby Mountains and the eastern Humboldt range face even more heavy snowfall, with up to 30 inches and gusts, reaching 50 miles / h, which makes the trip almost impossible until the beginning of Tuesday.
Motorists are urged to delay the trip, if possible, and keep emergency supplies in their vehicles. Road conditions can be monitored by calling 511 for updates.
