Nevada Day 2024: What’s open and closed Friday and when is the parade? – Renault Gazette

Nevadans will begin celebrating the Silver State’s 160th birthday on Friday, Oct. 25, six days before the state’s official founding anniversary on Oct. 31.

Here’s an overview of which offices are closed for the holiday, what remains open and how to attend the Nevada Day Parade:

What is closed on Nevada Day?

Renault

All City of Reno administrative offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Friday, October 25th in observance of Nevada Day.

The following City of Reno facilities will also be closed Friday: Adaptive Cycling Center, California Building, Idlewild Pool, McKinley Arts & Culture Center, Moana Springs Community Aquatics & Fitness Center, Northwest Pool, Plumas Gym, Reno Tennis Center, skate parks, Sky Tavern, Teglia’s Paradise Park Activity Center and Traner Pool.

Neil Road Leisure Center and Evelyn Mount Community Center will only be open from 10am to 6pm as a polling place for early voters, but both will be closed as facilities.

Washoe County

Washoe County Public Schools students will have the day off on Friday. UNR staff and students will also have the day off.

Most government offices in Washoe County will also be closed on October 25. However, county buildings that serve as polling centers will remain open for voting only.

The following Washoe County offices will be closed: administrative offices at the Washoe County Complex at 1001 E. Ninth St., all Washoe County Regional Libraries, Animal Services Shelter Operations and Office, the Reno Courthouse, the Sparks Courthouse, the of Incline Village and Wadsworth Judicial District Court, Second Judicial District Court and Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue Headquarters/Fire Prevention and Administrative Offices at 3663 Barron Way, Northern Nevada Public Health Clinical Services, Agency for Washoe County Human Services and all food distribution locations.

Nevada

Department of Motor Vehicles offices are closed Friday throughout Nevada.

What’s open on Nevada Day?

Polling places will be open throughout Reno for voting purposes, even if the facility is closed.

The County Clerk’s Office at the Washoe County Complex will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for fictitious business names, notary bond documents and marriage licenses. However, passport services will not be available.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and its administrative offices will be unavailable. However, walk-in and checkout services will remain open, and if citizens need emergency assistance, they can call 911 or contact the non-emergency line at 775-785-WCSO (9276).

Although the Regional Animal Services shelter operations and office will be closed, field operations will continue as usual. Pet redemption will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m

County libraries will be closed, but book distribution and online services will be available.

When is the Nevada Day Parade? Where is the Nevada Day Parade?

Nevada Day celebrations will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in Carson City with a hot air balloon launch in Carson City.

The Nevada Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. with a military parade followed by more than 200 entries marching through downtown Carson City. Attendees can expect the parade to last four hours.

Single Jack Drill World Championship Competition begins at Carson Mall at 11am

At 2 p.m. or immediately after the parade ends, the beard contest will begin at McFadden Plaza.

A Post Parade Celebration will be held at Telegraph, Curry and Proctor Streets from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
