Netanyahu heads to us to discuss the “victory over Hamas” with Trump – Irvine Times

The White House meeting on Tuesday will be the first of G -N Trump with a foreign leader from his return to office.

It comes as Arab mediators begin the scary work on the mediation of the next phase of an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and the release of dozens of militant hostages.

Hamas, who quickly confirmed his control over Gaza, as the cessation of the fire was mastered last month, said he would not release the hostages to be released in the second phase without the end of the war and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces.

Netanyahu, who is under increasing pressure from some of his ruling partners to resume the war after the first phase ended in early March, said Israel was still engaged in the victory over Hamas and the return of all the hostages captured in October fighters, October 7, 2023 Attack that caused the war.

It is not clear where the Trump is all in all this.

He is a firm supporter of Israel, but also promised to end the wars in the Middle East and took a loan to support the mediation of the fire termination agreement. The deal stopped fighting and led to the release of 18 hostages so far, which have been detained for more than 15 months, as well as hundreds of Palestinians closed by Israel.

In a statement published before his departure to Washington on Sunday, Netanyahu said a union of belligerent groups throughout the region, including Hamas.

He said they work together, they can “strengthen security, expand the circle of peace and to achieve a remarkable era of peace through power.”

The war began when thousands of Hamas leading fighters invaded southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took about 250 hostages. More than 100 hostages were released during the weekly termination of fire in November 2023, eight were rescued alive and dozens of bodies were restored by the Israeli forces.

Israel’s air and earthly war has killed more than 47,000 Palestinians, more than half of them women and children, according to local health authorities, who do not say how many of the dead were fighters.

The war left large parts of several cities in gas in ruins and displaced about 90% of the population of 2.3 million.

According to the first phase of the fire termination agreement, Hamas must release a total of 33 hostages, eight Hamas says they are dead, in exchange for nearly 2000 Palestinian prisoners. The Israeli forces pulled away from most areas and allowed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to return to the devastated northern gas.

Negotiations on the second phase, in which the war will end and the other 60 or more hostages will be returned, will start on Monday. If the United States, Qatar and Egypt are not able to conclude an agreement between Israel and Hamas, the conflict may be resumed in early March.
