Nestlé USA presented its main investment in the West Valley on January 28, celebrating the opening of its beverage factory worth $ 675 million and a distribution center near the Luke Air Force Base. The first of its kind on the West Coast, the 630,000 square meter facility is among the most modern technologically advanced to the company and will bring 300 jobs to the community.

Nestlé produces creams under several brands, including Coffeemate, Natural Bliss and Starbucks. The new location allows them easier access to customers in the Western United States.

Nestlé partnered with Arizona State University for Water Innovation Resource and will explore additional water management technologies for the future.

The new Glendale facility has started production last year, but its presence in Arizona has been dating for decades and additional facilities have been in a conversation, Flagstaff and Scottsdale. The area around the Luke Air Force Base is not suitable for housing, given the daily flight training at the military base; However, this makes it a suitable place for factories and businesses.

The Glendale facility is the first of its kind on the west coast, complementing its sister factory in Indiana. The company will produce over 30,000 to 50,000 cases per product a day – each case carrying six bottles – and is largely autonomous, transports pallets of products between its production and distribution areas through robots.

The facility is Pace Center, said factory manager Patrick Mine, which allows Nestlé USA to look at the decisions that it invests there and use its successful strategies on other sites. As well as a production center and distribution, there is an additional community bonus: potential work progress.
