Necrologist for Kenneth E. Car – Barley’s funeral chapels

Kenneth Edward Carr, (Kenny) at the age of 67, died on April 5, 2025 at the Nursing Center in Cumberland, calmly after a 6+ year battle with multiple atrophy systems. Kenny was Benjamin’s the youngest child Hank and Lila Car. He was born in Hyalea, Florida and later grew up in Kendall, Florida (well, as his siblings said, he has never actually grew up). This led to his love for dolphins in Miami. His family moved back to Greenup in 1970, where they opened Carr’s car sales (and later service). He graduated from high school at Cumberland HS & attended the University of East Illinois.

Kenny was always the life of the party. He had a contagious smile and a very charismatic personality.

During his life of adults, he was glad to live in many cities across the country: New Baden, Asheville, Lakeland, Atlanta (Go braves!) And Gulfport-just to name just a few. His wild precision memory could always recall and share the best bars and restaurants to try if you were in any of these areas.

His hobbies included hardened horse races, golf, fishing and playing cards. He works at Yellowbook and has won the Champion President Club for many years for his exceptional sales skills. Later in life, he works at Owens Motorsports and even wore the USPS mail.

He was very proud that he was a fun father of Mandy Carr (Amanda Bore). His valuable possessions when his health began to go south: Candy (all kinds), cheetos, Mountain Dew (thank you for maintaining his stocks) and two boxes of photos of his mother, dad and siblings, his horses and times he traveled to six flags and Florida.

He was a member of Charleston Elks and VFW. He honored the friendships built there.

Our family appreciates all the love and care that has been shown to him throughout his life, and especially in the last few difficult years. The staff at the Camberland Nursing Home (and several others he lived in) made him smile and make gloomy comments, “as a creator of problems” until the end. Thank you to everyone who visited and illuminated his days.

The survivors include: his only child, Dr. Amanda Bore (Jeff) from Aurora, Illinois, two favorite grandchildren TJ and faith; brother; Bob Carr of Charleston, Illinois, sister; Beth (Mike) Weger from AuburnDale, FL; Four nephews and two nieces and numerous cousins. Preceding him in death: his parents; brother, Larry Car; And a special nephew, Ryan Weiger.

Based on Kenny’s wishes, there will be no services, but sharing any favorite memories is welcome, as we all grieve for his loss. Barkley’s funeral chapel in Greenpe supports the family.
