Irving Jackson Patterson

Kennebunk – Irving Jackson Patterson, 87 -year -old from Kenbunk, died quietly on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

Born August 14, 1937 in Bangor, Irving grew up in Hampden at a Patterson Road family farm with many of his cousins. After the war, his immediate family moved to Dover-Foxcroft, where he would spend the rest of his childhood. Irving was one of the three sons of Raymond K. and Clara May (Jackson) Patterson.

Irving is a graduate of 1955 at Foxcroft Academy High School and a graduate of the University of Maine, Engineering College. It was at the Foxcroft Academy that he met with his future wife Loren Anis, at the age of 15. They were cute childhood and were married in 1957 at Dover-Foxcroft.

After graduating from the University of Maine, Irving began his mechanical career at American plaster in Lisbon Falls. In 1962, he, Loren and their first two sons moved to Sanford, where he was an engineer in a facility in the former Cyanamid corporation. In 1969, he left the engineering and entered a possible partnership with John Cransi and Len Sevini at Garnsey Brothers Insurance, real estate and traveling centers. He and Loren worked together as a team, with all the other fine colleagues for 15 years. There are many great memories of socializing with the team in downtown Sanford, and more special at GENE’s Bakery and Washington Square.

In 1985, he and his partners in Garnci split, and he formed new companies with their wonderful wife Loren and Lawns Jeffrey and Mark, and shortly thereafter Gregory. Later, his sons Michael and David will join various companies over the years. He had many kind memories of working with all his sons. He was extremely proud of each of them. He offered guidance, but allowed them to pursue their own dreams.

He and Loren took a brief pause to work with their sons to move to Pensacola in 1991. Irving was invited to become a chief engineer again, at Cyanamid in Pensacola, Florida. They returned to Maine in 1994 to complete their career working with their sons. Erving officially retired from the Patco Construction in 2001, but always worked “deals” until the end. Loren and Irving spent many years traveling back and forth like snow birds between Kenbunk and their beloved winter home in Pensacola, Florida and later sebringing, Florida. They have always had a motor home and a car in tow.

One of Irving’s strongest passions was the Upta camp. He started with his father and brothers, visiting Samack Lake in Douver-Foxcroft. They owned Grille Landing Camps and later Steadman. His family would rise for a prolonged stay in the summer, and he and his brother Joel will quarrel from Sanford every weekend. Later, to be more accessible, he and Loren bought a camp on the Moose pond in Denmark and invited or dragged their five sons there almost every weekend for 15 years. Later, Loren and Irving built a camp on Lake Shudik to approach their roots. Irving liked to walk to each of his camps, especially if there was a project he could work on. He loved projects. He was glad to work with his sons on the projects. He taught them everyone how to ski, initially Squaw Mountain in Greenville and later, a pleasant mountain in Bridge. Irving also enjoyed hunting with his father, and later bring his sons for family hunting. He was always for a Cribbage game.

Irving set the standard of volunteering to strive his sons. He was the chief and medicines of the YMCA Indian guides for young boys. He works on the capital campaign to build a new YMCA in Sanford. He was the leader of 4-H Woody Wood Workers. He was a basketball youth coach for SSYAA. He was both a Sunday school teacher and a youthful worship adviser to the northern parish church.

Irving loved to socialize and there was always a story to tell. He was always ready to share his bourbon Manhattan only by spraying the sweet vermouth. Everyone who knew him has a fun IRV story to share.

Irving was preceded by his parents; And Brother Joel.

He survived his loving wife, Loren, who was really his best friend and soulmate for more than 67 years; The younger brother, Alan and his wife Joan, two favorite sisters, Carol Patterson and Dorna Varnum Zilinski; Sons Jeffrey and his partner Helen, Mark and his wife Susan, Gregory and his wife, Heather, Michael and his wife Bonnie and David. He also survived 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Gareth, Ian, Colin, Calvin, Grace, Emma, ​​Lauren, Margaret, Connor and McKena; And also from their nephews Patrick, Amy, Kristen, Kelly, Kim and Catherine.

The holiday of his life will be held on Sunday, March 9, in the Sanford Elks Lodge, located on Elm 13, from 3 pm His life brings a good story to tell.
