NCRTD NEWS:

Española – the Northern Central Regional Transit Region (NCRTD) announces that Executive Director Anthony J. Mortillaryo has informed the Board of the Director that he will start his retirement leave from June 30, 2025, concluding an excellent mandate noted by considerable growth and innovation since the establishment of the district 20 years ago.

After joining the district in 2011, Mortillaro played an important role in the expansion of NCRTD services, the increase in riding and the application of innovative transport solutions, tailored to the unique needs of rural, semi -saint and tribal communities.

Under His Leadership, The District Introduced the Myblue on-Demand Rideshare Services in Taos and Española and Initiated Plans to Acquire 16so Electric and 9 Hybrid Electric Buses and Vans Transition Plan and a Planned Rural Rapid Transit Route Between Taos and Santa Fe.

These efforts have contributed to the fact that NCRTD was excellent as the community transit system in 2024, a small system of the Community Transit Association of America. Prior to this recent award, the area received the Federal Transit Administration Award for 2018 and 2014 for “Exclusive Public Transport”.

Under the guidance of Mortillaro, several significant stages have been achieved. It managed the construction and opening of the most modern maintenance facility in the Española headquarters, which significantly increases the efficiency and safety of NCRTD operations. Plans are also underway to open such a facility in Taos in 2025, with future facilities planned for Santa Fe, as well as the expansion and renovation of the Jim West Transit Center.

These projects have become possible through federal grants provided under the guidance of Mortillaro. Overall, projects worth approximately $ 77 million have been funded, built or are in different stages of planning due to its proactive approach to acquiring federal funds to expand the services and facilities of the district.

The successful election for 2018 to re -resolve the regional tax on transit gross income, which has passed with 74% support, stands as a testament to its effective guidance and its ability to mobilize the Community support for critical financing measures.
