NC State Women’s Soccer falls to No. 3 Wake Forest in regular season finale – NC State Athletics

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – After a three-game unbeaten streak, the North Carolina women’s soccer team ended its regular season with a 3-0 loss to No. 3 Wake Forest.

Wake Forest took an early lead after Nikayla Small scored in the first minute of the game. The Demon Deacons added two more goals in the second half, one from a penalty (48:29) and another from a header (79:00), sealing the final score 3-0.

Freshman Sina Töltzel made her collegiate debut as the starting goalie for the Wolfpack, playing the entire game and recording three saves in the first half and one in the second.

Freshman Mana Nakata had both shots on goal for NC State. Her first attempt came in the 20th minute but was saved by goalkeeper Valentina Amaral. Nakata later intercepted a Wake Forest goal kick, maneuvering deftly around the defense to fire into the center of the net, but a pair of Demon Deacons combined to save the team.

The Wolfpack finished their regular season with a 4-10-4 overall record and a 1-6-3 mark in conference play.
