“Navigating this Deep Loss”: Hundreds are present on an emotional vigil in candles for a fallen NLV police officer – Fox 5 Las Vegas

North Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – Hundreds of people from the valley gathered on Thursday night to honor the life of a police officer in North Las Vegas, killed in the fulfillment of the obligations.

Policeman Jason Roskov was killed in a shootout near Lone Mountain Road and Camino Al Norte on Tuesday.

The casualtable police office hosted a candlelight vigil at Liberty Park in front of the North Las Vegas City Hall.

The FOX5 crew saw tears and many hugs from police officers from different departments, everyone gathered to honor the life of the fallen officer.

“At that time, if you have a candle, please hold it high,” until someone took the microphone and turned to the crowd. “Keep them high for Jason!”

Proponents like Katie O’Rurk followed commands.

She is a teacher, but her family has relationships with law enforcement.

Her brother serves the same department as Roskov and she tells us how she is doing.

“I think as good as he can do, do you know that one day at one time, but it definitely affects it,” O’Rurk said. “He goes out to protect people and keep people safe, not to lose one of his friends and one of his family members.”

The North Las Vegas Police Department has published several family photos, if you will, explaining on Facebook, just hours before officer Jason Roskov to lose his life when performing the duties, he shared well with his team in the early morning photo shoot.

The Spirit team was felt by another group, drivers of tow trucks, such as Dan Miller, who says it was an honor to make a procession.

“These officers are coming out of their way to protect us with towing operators,” Miller said. “They put their cars on the road on the road and I want to show my respect for them for all the help they provide for us.”

The 46-year-old officer has been in the North Las Vegas police station for 17 years. He leaves behind two young sons, Grayson (9) and Andrew (4).

Alexander Quevas’s associate feels about the family and says the department will never be the same.

“Jason was just a good man. He was a friend of everyone in the department and I am so sad to see him because it will hurt the department, “said officer Quevas.

A local funeral service for officer Roskov will be held in the central church. Officer Roskov will be laid to rest in his hometown of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.

The injured police fund has a fundraising for officer Roskov on Monday from 9am to 2pm at the Nevada Coin Mart. All revenue will go to support his family.
