Asked what brought them to protest against the Trump administration, Debriana Mansini and Lisa Lucas began to name what they saw as crises:

Executive orders attacking the rights of transgender people and immigrants.

Effects on the right to reproductive care.

Non -governmental officials led by billionaire Elon Musk reports that they are gaining access to databases at the Ministry of the Ministry of Finance of the United States.

“There are so many things to list,” Mansini said. “But for me, the most important thing is, you know, just the absolute overthrow of our government, which is happening right now.”

The two women from Santa Fe were among about 400 people who gathered on Wednesday afternoon in front of the State Capitol, holding signs and chanting in disapproval of President Donald Trump, Musk and countless developments that dominated the news titles in the first few weeks of the second president of Trump term.

The protest was one of the dozens in state houses across the country to show a confrontation of Trump’s policies and the mass leadership of the Project 2025 policy for the Presidency.

No person or group took a loan to organize the event in Santa Fe. Many have said that they have learned about protest through mouth or publications on various social media sites, including Tiktok, Facebook and Bluesky.

A photo that has spread to social media sites in recent days has called for “50 protests in 50 state capitals in one day”, a national movement called “50501”, which aims to “build resistance” against Trump, according to a website of protests across the country.

Part of the sidewalk right in front of the Round House in Santa Fe was marked by signs that read “rally area”, but most protesters gathered instead of a different section of the sidewalk, right from the old path of Santa Fe, chanting: “Hey, Ho, Ho , Ho – Elon Musk must go! “And” No project 2025! “

They marched in a circle around the building several times – as MPs inside the session business – and then several groups formed throughout the property. Some were signs and chanted in support of the Palestinians as others shouted Bullhori in protest of Trump’s Mass Deportation plan.

“You will notice, there are as many Musk signs here as 47,” or Trump, “Fay Stewing said. “He has no right – we didn’t choose him.”

Some signs of the event said, “Deport musk.”

Reports and court cases in the last week show that Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX, led a group of young technicians who have accessed confidential files and databases at numerous federal agencies, including the payment system for the Ministry of Finance.

The Group of Musk – called the Ministry of Efficiency of the Government – is not an official state entity, but according to communications, employees and volunteers exercise control over federal agencies, according to a recent case, filed by federal workers.

Steering attended the rally with two other, all from Santa Fe, she said, and belongs to the local head of the national activist group, invisible, who participates in the intercession for numerous issues such as civil rights, environmental protection and voting rights.

“No one has organized this specifically this, but it’s just from mouth to mouth, social media and we are all here because we are so upset,” she said.

Sting said the group members would like to see the Democrats act together to slow down and block as much of Trump’s actions they can.

Some present expressed disappointment with the Democrats in Congress, which they believe did not fulfill the emergency of the moment.

“We have to be the opposition party,” Mansini said. “We can’t pretend to be normal. We have no normality. It is not good to be bilateral as we fall into fascism. ”

Republicans also “have to take a position and they don’t,” she added.

“What brought me out today is that the Democrats are not able to do anything,” Lisa Lucas said. “They speak, offer legislation that will not pass, and in the meantime we have the most rich person in the world to take over the country.”

Several protesters said they had attended demonstrations during the Trump last administration; Others were new to the “resistance” and felt galvanized by the pressure of executive orders and other contradictions in the first few weeks of the Presidency.

Many traveled to the capital of the state from Albukerke to attend the demonstration.

Dawn Face said she had taken the train Runner Express to Santa Fe from Albukerke on Wednesday morning and the train was “full” by demonstrators.

Face said he had a Mexican son, as well as grandchildren, adding, “I want them to grow up in a community where they have rights.”

An art teacher, Face said she had previously taught in Texas near the Mexican border and worked in facilities where immigrant children were detained.

“This is the most uninvited thing I have seen in my life,” she said. “These children are injured forever. … I want to say that there are so many things that are wrong, but it is really important to me. ”

May Smith also took the train from Albukerke to attend the protest in reaction to what he sees as a president, “trying to expand his power.”

Smith, a student, said she was involved in protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, which was in the form of a camp at the University of New Mexico last year.

She said, “If you say nothing, I think you are part of the problem.”

The sub -development sub -Presidency of the Trump Presidency emphasizes the “emergency” so that people can speak, Smith said.

“It makes you no longer want to be inactive,” she said. “Makes you feel again that you have this fire, you know?”
